Four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission and two exhausts powered this car, as it attempted to surpass its competition: The Pontiac GTO. At the time, Motor Trend reported that the car could reach a top speed of 116 mph.
4. Plymouth Roadrunner
Plymouth decided to build a “back to its roots” type of muscle car that could run the quarter mile in 14-seconds and retail for less than $3,000. Both of these goals were met with the Road Runner.
